Hobsonville Point Primary School - Expansion
The Hobsonville Point Primary School expansion delivered 2,649 m² of new space, including 28 teaching spaces, four specialist rooms, expanded administration areas, and upgraded parking and drop-off facilities. Specialist learning environments for science, technology, and creative disciplines broaden the school’s curriculum capability and support its growing roll.
Working within a busy, high-density school required a structured approach to staging, safety, and communication. Watts & Hughes maintained daily coordination with school leadership, facilitated student and staff site visits, and ensured that broader outcomes—such as community engagement and transparent progress reporting—were embedded throughout. The PPP model’s stringent QA and compliance requirements shaped the delivery approach, with robust inspection regimes and documentation processes ensuring consistent quality.
Delivered simultaneously with the Te Uho o Te Nikau and Matua Ngaru expansions, the project benefited from shared resources, aligned methodologies, and a stable team structure across all three sites. Each school had a dedicated project manager, site manager, and QS, supported by programme-wide collaboration and real-time lessons learnt. Completed ahead of programme, the expansion has been warmly received by the school, providing a future-focused facility tailored to the needs of its community. The project further demonstrated the strength of the kitset approach—standardised design completed in under six months, adapted to suit the unique character of Hobsonville Point Primary.
