Manukau District Court
This project included the construction of a new 4-level court facility as well as the upgrade and refurbishment of the existing Manukau Courts. The new court building is an in-situ concrete frame with precast floors and a metal/membrane roof. Exterior cladding is made up of brickwork, Neolith panel system and glass block walls, all with aluminium joinery.
The basement level provides secure car parking for the judiciary and court staff. Ground and level 1 comprise new courtrooms, jury rooms, assembly areas, custodial areas, circulation spaces and ancillary rooms. Level 2 has been left as a shell for future expansion of the courts. This project is being completed in 3 stages. Stage 1 comprised the new build and achieved practical completion, on programme, in October 2014. Stage 2 included the refurbishment and upgrade of part of the existing court facility and achieved practical completion, on programme, on April 2015. Stage 3 comprises the refurbishment and upgrade of the balance of the existing courts and completed in July 2016.
This project was completed on time, and significant savings were made to the original budget.
